Are you an early- or mid-career professional trying to figure out how to take the next step in your career? WAN is organizing a 3-part leadership series on "Transitioning to Leadership Positions," to help WAN members and participants:
Understand what a leader is and the different ways one can lead,
Learn how to position oneself to move into management, and
Understand challenges women specifically face when moving into leadership positions and how to overcome/ minimize them.
This series will equip existing and aspiring leaders with the knowledge, self-awareness, and professional development skills to effectively lead. Each session will feature a conversation with a female leader in the aquatic field and a training on some of the skills that make for a good leader.
TRAINING:
So you want to take the next step in your career: moving into a management or leadership position. WAN regular, Chrissy Macken, will lead a training on what leadership means, how to get to leadership positions, and unique challenges women face in advancing in their careers.
LEADERSHIP CONVERSATION:
VADM Sandy Stosz, our distinguished guest for our leadership conversation, will share her experiences as a trailblazer for women in the U.S. Coast Guard, working in the uniformed services in a male-dominated field, and leading during times of institutional change.

About our Speakers
Chrissy Macken
Chrissy Macken is the Founder and Owner of Blueprintgreen Career Coaching & Consulting, based in Washington, DC. VADM Sandy Stosz
Vice Admiral Sandy Stosz started out in the US Coast Guard as an ensign serving on polar icebreakers, conducting national security missions from the Arctic to the Antarctic. Her forty-year career is filled with leadership lessons gleaned while breaking ice and breaking glass as the first woman to command an icebreaker on the Great Lakes and to lead a US armed forces service academy. Along the way, Sandy served for 12 years at sea, commanding two ships, and led large Coast Guard organizations during times of crisis and complexity. She finished her career as the first woman assigned as Deputy Commandant for Mission
